The Promise of Combination Products - Drugs/Device/Data
This region is home to the nation's largest and most prolific life sciences sector, with world class medical research and prominent medical device, pharma and healthcare IT clusters. The convergence of research and product development has yielded an impressive array of innovative drug delivery systems and patient monitoring devices.
This seminar will include a report on the findings of a study by Cambridge Consultants on how local and national life sciences company executives are planning to maximize the potential of combinations products. A panel of experts including device and pharma executives and IP, regulatory and software experts will discuss the unique challenges faced by companies developing these products.
MedTech Office Hours: SBIR Grants
What to Expect in 2011 and Strategies for Securing Grants
Early stage MedTech companies will have the opportunity to hear a presentation on SBIR grants. Topics to be covered include update on SBIR reauthorization, eligibility, business reasons to apply or not, what to do if unsuccessful the first time, and strategies for obtaining Phase II funding.

The program will conclude with networking and a question and answer session with Betsy M. Ohlsson-Willhelm, CEO of SciGro Inc. SciGro has generously donated their time and expertise to this event to assist IGNITE with increasing the number of early stage Medtech companies. Space has been generously provided by the Microsoft New England Research and Development Center.
MassMEDIC's FDA Update
Presented in conjunction with the American Society for Quality/New England Biomedical Discussion Group and the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society/Boston Chapter.
Dr. Jeffrey Shuren, Director of the Center for Device and Radiological Health, was the keynote speaker at the event. The day-long program also featured presentations on New England District Office Compliance activities; Capitol Hill action and an examination of the the 2010 mid-term elections will impact device-related legislation; strategies for 510(k) submissions; and a workshop on complying with 21 CFR Part 11.
Medtech Entrepreneur Round Table: Venturing New Business
MassMEDIC, in conjunction with the Deshpande Center, hosted an entrepreneur round table - a practical workshop for entrepreneurs or those who are thinking about becoming entrepreneurs in the medtech space. Speakers and panelists included a dynamic team of experienced entrepreneurs, seasoned venture capitalists, innovative university faculty, and corporate business development leaders. The focus was what you may not know about venturing a new businesses and what to consider once you have made the decision to become an entrepreneur.
MassMEDIC's New Events Application Goes Live
As a service to its events attendees, MassMEDIC has created a new web application that allows event attendees to see who else is attending an event. Each member has the option of sharing their business information and participating in blind (email addresses are not displayed on the site) email messaging with other event attendees, all in an effort to foster greater networking opportunities before and during the event. Anyone who registers for a MassMEDIC event will become part of this event-based community.
